About Our Firm
Boone, Beale, Cosby & Long was founded in 1978 by David
E. Boone. As a Law Clerk to a United States District Judge,
Mr. Boone had envisioned creating a small law firm that would
specialize in criminal defense. Over the years, this goal was
realized by associating attorneys with a keen interest and background
in this field. The firm represents individuals charged with
criminal offenses before both Federal and State Courts in Virginia
and a host of other states. In recent years, the firm has expanded
into the field of personal injury. Today, the firm enjoys an
excellent reputation in both fields of law which is evidenced
by the fact that most of the members of the law firm have been
selected by various bar organizations to be key speakers in
Continuing Legal Education Seminars and by local colleges and
universities to serve as adjunct faculty and guest lecturers.
W. Edward Riley, IV and J. Burkhardt Beale broaden this firms
experience by adding years of solid expertise in the field
of DUI representation. Both are certified field administrators
for field sobriety tests. Both lecture extensively on the
